The word “Agile” in the technology development world is a well known methodology within software development. However, agile practices find themselves increasingly in non-tech occupations. As an organisational framework its impact upon work task visibility is essential for the delivery of complex tasks within both small and large projects. The classroom is no stranger to the need for equally complex organisation and agile can serve as a strong tool for teachers and students alike. Naturally, the first question posed is, will Agile require more of my precious planning time? Well it will do initially getting yourself and your classes working in a new way, but the trade off is worth it over time. Having an organised cohort working towards industry practices is empowering for all involved. Furthermore the implementation of Agile into the classroom will require an initial fore-thought of how best to expedite agile skills into the responsibilities of students during daily registration, therefore, this does not mean that you have to rigidly deploy agile techniques that are common within the workplace. Agile should be shaped to fit your requirements and to be used as a tool which aids your’s and your students day to day task management.
